A four-day retreat was organized for the staff and daughters of the Wholistic Outreach. The program was held on 2nd – 5th September, 2024. The retreat aim was to boost the capacity of the staff for better performance on their duties, through a positive/heavenly mindset; while the daughters, in addition to that, are expected to do away with their emotional baggage, and shift their focus from their terrible past.

The theme for the retreat was ‘Heavenly Mindset”. Pastor Remi Oluboba, the chairman Board of Directors, gave the welcome address.

The seasoned facilitators, who did justice to the various topics for the retreat and made the retreat a worthwhile event for both the staff and the daughters of Wholistic are: Pst. D.G Kuo (Special Prayer Session) Pst. Remi Oluboba, Rev. Sunday Awe (CPGM), Pst (Mrs.) M.A Boluwakole, Pst. (Mrs.) Nike Ajayi’s Team (REALM), Pst. Philip Simidu, and Pst. (Mrs.) Abiodun Bello.

The facilitators took the participants through various sessions on the following topics:

• The Heart of Man
• Transformation Through Renewed Mind
• Healing from Our Emotional Baggage
• Career Talk
• Decision Making
• Character Building
• Mental Health
• Goal Setting

Some Important Points from Various Sessions:

• Mindset simply means a mind that is set. God doesn’t want us to set our minds on our environment or circumstances around us, but our minds should be set on God, heaven, and things above – Col. 3:1-3 (Pst. Remi Oluboba).

• Lesson from the story of a small boy holding a butterfly and asking a wise man to determine whether the butterfly is dead or alive. The old man said, “It is in your hand”. Meaning, the choice about our life is in our hands.  (Pst. Mrs. Boluwakole)

• A life is captured when a heart is captured; when a heart is transformed, a life is transformed. If you have God in your heart, your decisions will be good. – Ezekiel 36:24-27 (Rev. Sunday Awe).

• Seven ‘Ds’ to Excellence in Life are: Discovery, Desire, Decision, Discipline, Determination, Diligence, Deliverance. (Rev. Sunday Awe).

• Your scars are the signs that you show up for the war and came back alive. (REALM)

• Ways of Developing Godly Characters include: Know God and seek His pleasure, Do unto others as you want others to do unto you, practise true love towards everyone e.t.c (REALM)

The requirements to make heaven are: Be born again, live in the consciousness of eternity, live a life of holiness without compromise, repent and confess all sins promptly, pray for the grace to overcome sin, avoid overconfidence, watch and pray. (Pst. Philp Shimidu)
